Why Photosymbols went to the meeting

AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. Photosymbols spoke about how people with learning disabilities can plan how AI works.

The Newton Project

In our Newton Project, we asked people with learning disabilities about AI. We asked about Easy Read and how they like to get their information.

EveryVoice AI

Photosymbols have made EveryVoice AI. It is an AI that is built to include disabled people's voices and to be respectful and kind.

Our talk at the UN

We shared three important ideas at the UN.

First, we need to make sure people understand AI. Some people with learning disabilities had not heard of AI before we met with them.

Second, not everyone has good access to technology. Some people only have basic phones. We need to share information in lots of different ways.

Lastly, it's important to think about how disabled people are shown in AI pictures.

Photosymbols uses Expert Advisers who help us make sure our AI images don't use stereotypes to show people with learning disabilities.

Using AI to make pictures

Lots of the people we worked with have enjoyed using AI to make pictures. It is good for making pictures of things that are hard to take photos of.

But we also talked about making sure that these pictures are fair and don't show disabled people in a harmful way.

We learned a lot from talking to people about AI and we will use it in our work at Photosymbols.

Ongoing work

We will keep learning and making our AI better. We will keep listening to people with learning disabilities.
